What do honey bees do in the winter?

When temperatures in the winter drop below 50 °F (10 °C), honeybees retreat to their hives and form a winter cluster to keep warm—sort of like a giant three-month slumber party. But it's not all pillow fights and fun. The fate of the hive depends on how sufficiently the winter population has prepared for the cold.

What does the Bee do in the winter?

When temperatures in the winter drop below 50 °F (10 °C), the Bee retreats to its hive and begins planning for it's spring season of quilt shows and retreats—sort of like a giant three-month slumber party. But it's not all pillow fights and fun. The fate of the hive depends on how sufficiently the Bee has prepared for the cold and how the local communities we serve weather the current pandemic.  With the hope of effective vaccines to combat the virus being introduced to the general public over the winter months,  the Bee will keep busy updating our inventory of bee-utiful fabrics in preparation for our coming out of hibernation and return to our beloved quilt shows and retreats.  We look forward to seeing everyone on the road in 2021.  Please Bee safe, Bee well!
